Corporate Responsibility
Our products help our customers to reduce their energy usage thereby saving money, reducing fuel poverty and reducing their impact on the environment and climate change.However we do not feel our responsibility to the environment and community ends here.
We try to run our company in a way that has a minimum impact on the environment and a positive impact on our employees and local community.
Environment
Our environmental management controls are ISO14001 accredited, demonstrating our sound environmental practices and commitment to continuous improvement. We have processes in place to manage our waste effectively and recycle wherever possible we can from plastic and card to pallets and rubble.
We are looking at ways we can reduce our energy consumption across our business. Currently we are collecting benchmark data for our gas, electricity, water usage and fuel before looking at how we can use these resources more efficiently. Our work requires a significant amount of travel.
We have implemented a new booking system, which allows us to identify and batch jobs close together to reduce mileage where practicable actively encourage best practice driving practice to improve fuel efficiency.
We are also very proud that the HIS Group was also awarded Most Eco-Friendly Company Award by the National Insulation Association.
Foundation
Foundation is an innovative climate fund for the Northwest of England that gathers up donations from individuals, businesses and other organisations and uses them to support a variety of community-based carbon reduction projects.
The projects that Foundation supports include domestic energy efficiency improvements like wall and loft insulation, renewable energy schemes like the installation of solar panels, behaviour change initiatives like encouraging people to switch from driving to cycling, and carbon capture projects like tree planting.
Community
We are committed to supporting our local communities and engaging in the areas in which we operate. We sponsor the Spirit of Youth under 8s football team, who are based near our Kirkham offices. We also offer work experience to local schools. Internally our employees support charity days like Jeans4Genes.
Employees
HiS is an employee-owned company which encourages staff engagement and commitment with employees, openness is key to our business. Our employee council has representatives from each department and we have employee representation at board level too.
